ONGOING PRODUCT SUPPORT
Welcome to the Just Flight End Of Year Round-Up for 2024! It's been another jam packed year for us, with new product releases, product updates and the curveball of the release of an entirely new simulator. With so much going on it is nice to gather our thoughts and put together a summary of where we are with our already released products and our upcoming products, and take a look at what you can expect to see from us over the next year.
Throughout this week we will provide daily news posts, with each day focusing on a different subject and culminating in an exciting new aircraft announcement at the end of the week. But without further ado, let's jump into the focus of today’s post - ongoing product support!
PA28R Arrow III, PA-28R Turbo Arrow III/IV and PA-28-161 Warrior II
These were the first three aircraft that we released for Microsoft Flight Simulator back in 2021 and we will continue to support these products as we head into 2025.
In November 2024 we released a new flight model update for our PA-28-161 Warrior II in MSFS 2020, which saw improvements to various aspects of the flight model based on community feedback. This update took advantage of some of the latest features in the MSFS SDK that were not available at the time of the product’s initial release, including improved ground friction support and CFD.
Now that we have gathered community feedback on this latest update, we are in a position to apply those improvements to the flight models of the Arrow III and Turbo Arrow III/IV. These flight model updates will also be grouped into a larger update for the PA-28 fleet which will include other bug fixes and improvements, as well as MSFS 2024 compatibility. As we have stated previously, all of our MSFS 2024 compatibility updates will be free of charge for existing owners of our products, regardless of the store from which they were purchased.
Hawk T1/A Advanced Trainer
A significant new update is in the works for the Hawk, so significant that we have given it the ‘Version 2’ designation! This update will include a long-awaited new flight model which takes full advantage of the latest features in the MSFS SDK that were not available at the time of the initial release.
The ‘Version 2’ update will also include a variety of other bug fixes, improvements and feature requests that have been highlighted by the community since the previous update. The improvements include improved navigation light models, improved HSI ‘wobble’ and improved drum animations. There will also be a selection of new liveries included in the update and, thanks to a recent change in the Marketplace policy, we will now also be able to include visual weapons in future Marketplace updates!
We plan to combine this upgrade with an MSFS 2024 compatibility update, meaning that all previous owners of the Hawk will get the ‘Version 2’ update and the MSFS 2024 compatibility updates on the same day, free of charge.
146 Professional
Over two years since its original release, 146 Professional (MSFS) continues to be one of our most successful and highly regarded aircraft to date.
In 2024 we released a huge ‘Version 2’ free upgrade which included some much requested features. Among these were a highly detailed passenger cabin, redesigned EFB interface, new passenger and cargo boarding system, interactive paper charts and checklists, new liveries and - for the first time in MSFS - a custom-coded UNS-1 Flight Management System.
During the development of our RJ Professional (MSFS), we ended up improving or, in many cases, completely rewriting systems logic that is shared with the 146, for example the cabin conditioning system. Our plan heading into 2025, therefore, is to release another sizeable upgrade for the 146 Professional that will include those systems logic improvements as well as the usual fixes and other improvements based on feedback since the previous 146 update. We also plan for this free upgrade to include MSFS 2024 compatibility.
FS Traffic
An update for FS Traffic in MSFS 2020 is close to completion and we expect this to be passed over to our internal testing team in the next few weeks. A draft changelog (subject to change) for the upcoming update can be found here.
Once that is released, we have a further update planned which will provide new aircraft types and a selection of liveries. We have also begun to evaluate FS Traffic in MSFS 2024. From our initial tests we can see that the FS Traffic fleet will still feature a much larger selection of liveries compared to the default aircraft, more accurate model matching and significant performance improvements over the default traffic system. On top of this, some new functions have been added to the SDK that we are hope can improve the FS Traffic experience even further. More news on that once our development team has had time to investigate the changes further.
The Xbox version of FS Traffic in MSFS 2020 has been in testing for quite some time, but we have held it back due to performance limitations on the Xbox consoles. We have the product fully functional on both the Xbox Series S and Series X, but due to the former’s relatively low VRAM we are not confident enough that acceptable performance can be achieved across all scenarios. We will be re-evaluating the Xbox version of FS Traffic with the extra memory that has been freed up in MSFS 2024.
F28 Professional
Following on from the 146 Professional's ‘Version 2’ upgrade, we are nearing the end of development for a similar free upgrade to the F28 Professional; this will include some much requested features as well as adding even more cockpit customisation options to the F28, bringing it even closer to the massive amount of cockpit configurations the real aircraft had!
The new features include a custom-coded UNS-1 Flight Management System, new cockpit equipment such as an altitude preselect ontroller, Interactive paper checklists, two types of passenger oxygen regulator, window shades, a redesigned EFB interface with passenger boarding and refuelling simulation, among numerous other improvements and feature requests.
A document covering the F28 Professional Version 2 update in greater detail can be found here.
We had initially planned to release the Version 2 update at the end of this year, but we will now combine it with an MSFS 2024 compatibility update. Although this will incur a small delay into early 2025, it does mean that all existing owners of the F28 Professional will get the ‘Version 2’ upgrades and the MSFS 2024 compatibility update at the same time.
Vulcan B Mk. 2, K.2 & MRR
Although things may have looked a bit quiet on the Vulcan front this year (due to us being very happy with the state of the current release version), some work has been done on the next update, including improved custom smoke effects both for the engines and for the rapid start system.
One of the most common requests that we receive is from Marketplace users wanting the same weapons payloads as found on the non-Marketplace version. Fortunately, due to a recent change in the Marketplace policy, we will now be able to reintroduce visual weapons payloads in the next Vulcan update!
These changes will be released along with the addition of MSFS 2024 compatibility, bringing the legendary Vulcan howl to the latest edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator!
PA-38 Tomahawk
The Tomahawk was one of two brand-new aircraft that we released in 2024, arriving in your MSFS 2020 hangars at the end of April. The aircraft saw a handful of updates in the months after its release, including a variety of features requested by the community.
As with all our other products, the Tomahawk will get a free MSFS 2024 compatibility update in the near future. It was the first of our GA aircraft to feature a pre-flight walkaround mode, a system that has since been added to MSFS 2024. We are in the process of evaluating whether to adopt the latter, and what other new features can be included.
We'll keep you updated, and hopefully it won’t be too long before you can take the Tomahawk for a spin in MSFS 2024!
RJ Professional
Our RJ Professional (MSFS) released for MSFS 2020 in early November and we have been thrilled to see so many people enjoying the aircraft. The blend of a (relatively) modern glass cockpit with the quirky 146 systems architecture seems to have struck just the right balance for many of you. This was our first study-level glass-cockpit airliner and its development was complex and challenging, paving the way for our upcoming F70 and F100.
We released a free MSFS 2024 compatibility update for the RJ in early December. This is currently available for all non-Marketplace owners, and we hope to be able to bring it to the MSFS 2024 Marketplace when that is launched by Microsoft in the new year.
"So, what's next for the RJ Professional?" we hear you ask. With the ever evolving nature of Microsoft's latest simulator and the myriad patches and sim updates that have either already been released or are due in the coming weeks/months, the RJ (being our first MSFS 2024 compatible product) has remained top of our priority list. We are continuously monitoring community through our own Forum and others, and also from our Support team, and we are working on a v1.3 update that will include further bug fixes, improvements and feature requests. As with all our other products covered here, we will be supporting the RJ with additional updates and improvements for a long time to come!
If you are an existing 146 Professional owner, a friendly reminder that ALL previous 146 Professional (MSFS) owners are entitled to a 20% discount on the RJ Professional!
X-Plane 12 General Aviation Fleet
Earlier this year we announced the development of X-Plane 12 native versions of our GA fleet to take advantage of the simulator’s latest features. We soon followed this with X-Plane 12 editions of the Duchess Model 76, PA-28R Arrow III and PA-28R Turbo Arrow III/IV.
The next aircraft to enter our X-Plane 12 GA fleet will be the PA-28-161 Warrior II. Working in partnership with Thranda Design, we will include a similarly rich feature set as found in our other X-Plane 12 aircraft, including ultra-high quality 8K interior and exterior textures and a custom-coded EFB with features such as the ability to change aircraft configuration options, view interactive checklists and customise the aircraft’s paint scheme on the fly with the Dynamic Liveries feature. A raft of other native X-Plane 12 features will also be included.
The Warrior is about to enter beta testing and we plan to have it available in early 2025. We'll let you know when it gets added to our In Development section.

As you can see, there is a lot going on at Just Flight HQ, from supporting ten (and counting) complex products for Microsoft Flight Simulator to the development of new aircraft. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for another year of your support and for all the great feedback and suggestions from you that directly contribute to our development work.
Be sure to check back tomorrow as we start to look ahead into some of our products that are on the horizon…

Just Flight is proud to announce that it has extended its impactful partnership with the National Videogame Museum (NVM), reinforcing their shared commitment to education, creativity and community engagement. Through this collaboration, the NVM has supported a series of innovative and inclusive programs that have inspired thousands of young people, families and educators across the UK.
Championing Creativity in Rotherham
Our partnership contributed to the Plug In and Play Games Trail, held during October half-term in collaboration with Rotherham’s Children’s Capital of Culture 2025. This dynamic event engaged over 2,500 participants across eight locations in Rotherham town centre, blending analogue and digital games co-created with local primary school students. Families explored their city through creative play, and young minds discovered their potential as game designers and innovators.
Interactive Learning at the NVM
At the heart of the NVM’s October programming was the installation of five nature-themed video games, offering visitors a unique “Plug In and Play” experience. Over 2,100 museum-goers contributed to crafting a cardboard jungle obstacle course for Sphero Robots, igniting imaginations and demonstrating how play fuels creativity and learning.
Inspiring Future Careers
In November, the NVM hosted three workshops during Discover Creative Careers Week, introducing students from SEND schools to the many roles that make a museum extraordinary. These workshops allowed learners to step into the shoes of curators, pitching their own exhibit ideas and gaining hands-on insights into the creative industry.
Supporting Formal Education
In response to challenges faced by schools, Just Flight’s collaboration has also empowered the NVM to enhance its educational outreach, leveraging targeted marketing campaigns to increase school bookings. With teacher satisfaction at 100%, we are proud to help create spaces where children can thrive academically, creatively and socially.
A Vision for the Future
Andy Payne, Founder and CEO of Just Flight said, "Our partnership reflects a shared vision to foster innovation, accessibility and lifelong learning through the medium of videogames. As we continue to work with the NVM, we are excited to further support programs that bridge play, education and creativity, ensuring every young person can unlock their potential. We would urge other games companies to join this initiative and we would welcome the opportunity to share our experiences with our peers."

A v1.2 Update is now available for our recently released RJ Professional for Microsoft Flight Simulator, adding MSFS 2024 compatibility and some significant changes to the interior and exterior lighting to better suit the MSFS 2024 environment, along with other enhancements and fixes.
You can see the full list of v1.2 updates on the Support page.
Please note that, whilst we’ve addressed as many of the compatibility issues as possible, some remain for MS/Asobo to address in their upcoming simulator updates. We will continue to work on the RJ Professional as further simulator updates are released. We have compiled a summary of known issues, which also provides some information on how your RJ experience in MSFS 2024 might differ from that in MSFS 2020.
As we mentioned in an earlier post, we will be working on MSFS 2024 compatibility updates for all of our existing MSFS 2020 aircraft, before considering how best to support new MSFS 2024 features in future upgrades. We will, of course, continue to support MSFS 2020.
MICROSOFT MARKETPLACE
Whilst those of you who bought the RJ Professional direct from Just Flight can now download the latest MSFS 2024-compatible version of the aircraft from us, it appears that the availability of updated/new products on the MSFS Marketplace is subject to some delay at the moment. The earlier v1.1 Update for the RJ Professional in MSFS 2020 is still to appear on the Marketplace at the time of writing, and communication from Microsoft/Asobo seems to indicate that we will not be able to make the MSFS 2024 version available on the Marketplace until the New Year. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do to speed up that process, so Marketplace buyers will need to wait a little longer before enjoying the RJ in MSFS 2024.

Following the much anticipated release of MSFS 2024 yesterday, our development team have begun evaluating our in-house aircraft using that release build. With our aircraft visuals and performance already looking very promising, we are excited to bring our fleet to 2024 as quickly as possible, before exploring what upgrades might be possible.
The good news is that many of the compatibility issues found in the pre-release preview builds have already been addressed by Microsoft and Asobo and, as shown in these screenshots, we have been able to successfully complete full flights in our RJ Professional, the most complex aircraft in our fleet. Some compatibility issues still exist, however, such as the glass texture issue shown here on the RJ, and therefore updates will be necessary.
With a total of nine aircraft already released for MSFS 2020, and three still in development, that task is going to take a little while to complete. We will continue to keep you updated on progress, and what that will mean in terms of accessing our aircraft in MSFS 2024, either via the Marketplace, our website or other stores.
Please note that, until we have been able to fully test our aircraft in the release build of MSFS 2024, and to identify and address any compatibility issues, we will be unable to provide support for their use in the new simulator.

We don’t feel that the pre-release builds of MSFS 2024 to which we have had access in recent weeks have been reflective enough of the final product (due for release on 19 November) for us to be able to make a full and accurate assessment of the compatibility of our existing products and of the potential for upgrades beyond that.
Therefore, until we’ve had time to fully evaluate MSFS 2024 and the SDK after its release, we’re only able to reaffirm our commitment to bring all of our existing MSFS 2020 products to MSFS 2024, with the same features, as soon as possible and free of charge.
How quickly the MSFS 2024-compatible versions of our products will be available will depend on which compatibility issues still exist after the 19th. Asobo have made great progress during the pre-release testing period, so we’re hopeful they will meet their goal of resolving all those issues, removing the need for us to work on compatibility beyond simply updating our installers. There is, however, no guarantee that will be the case on the 19th.
Following the release of any compatibility updates, we will begin to look at what upgrades are possible for our existing products in MSFS 2024, and we will share more information as that work progresses over the coming weeks. We remain committed to supporting and upgrading our products, and that will extend to both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.
Please note that, until we have been able to fully test our aircraft in the release build of MSFS 2024, and identify and address any compatibility issues, we will be unable to provide support for their use in the simulator. Please bear that in mind if the need should arise to contact our customer service team.

As is surely the case for most developers, I have been asked whether my existing aircraft will be compatible with MSFS 2024 with increasing frequency. It was my intention to offer fully compatible versions of my standalone aircraft (Velocity XL, TBM 850, Piston & Turbine Dukes) on day-one of MSFS 2024; however, the MSFS 2024 Dev Alpha has revealed several undocumented breaking code changes, and it is unclear how the Dev Alpha will relate to the release build. With so much uncertainty, the best I can offer is my dedication to these products, and providing a quality experience in MSFS 2024 for existing users as quickly as I can. In their current state, these aircraft are already enjoyable in MSFS 2024, but present minor graphical and animation abnormalities due to core simulator changes that I would not ignore in an ordinary MSFS 2020 product releases.
As for the Steam Gauge Overhaul series (Analog Caravan, Analog King Air, Analog Bonanza, and Analog Baron), I have been planning a major reboot of these titles as standalone aircraft for MSFS 2024. These new aircraft will be known as the "Professional" series, and will include all the technology that makes the TBM 850, Dukes, and Starship among the most complex general aviation aircraft for MSFS. It is also possible that there will be a path of least resistance to bring the Steam Gauge Overhaul fleet into MSFS 2024 as-is, for those who wish to continue using these titles in the new simulator; however, we cannot be sure until more is known about the release version of MSFS 2024.

Today, I would like to offer a preview of the "Caravan Professional", a drastically improved version of my Analog Caravan with many new features and improved graphical quality.

The Caravan Professional will comprise two separate, and independent titles, each with two variants of the base aircraft. One title will contain the base model Grand Caravan with a passenger interior for seating of up to 12 passengers and 2 crew, both with and without the optional cargo pod.

The other title will contain the Grand Caravan Amphibian, and Super Cargomaster variants. All four new variants of the Caravan Professional will also be sold together as a discounted bundle combining the two titles. Existing owners of the Analog Caravan will be provided with discount codes for these new titles.

Unlike the Steam Gauge Overhaul series, the Black Square Professional Series will feature all new exterior models and sound packages. The models' textures and materials exceed the quality of all previous Black Square aircraft to date.

The Caravan Professional implements all of the applicable features made popular by the Black Square TBM 850, and Turbine Duke, including custom turbine engine simulation, beta range, propeller feathering physics, turbine engine failures, voltage-based light dimming, realistic strobe bounce in clouds, FOD damage, improved environmental simulation, gyroscope physics simulation, and incandescent lighting effects.

Black Square's Tablet Interface has also been added to the Caravan Professional, allowing users to configuring options, set payloads, manage 100+ failures, and monitor real time visualizers for the engine, live electrical schematic, and environmental systems. Along with this addition comes many improvements to the existing systems from the Analog Caravan needed to provide information for the tablet visualizers. The code complexity of the electrical, environmental, and engine simulations in this aircraft have each doubled or tripled when compared to the Analog Caravan.

The Caravan Professional will also include additional hot-swapping avionics configurations, doubling the Analog Caravan's total from 6 to 12 configurations. Users will now have the choice of adding a KLN-90B vintage GPS, or modern GTN/GTNxi 650, alongside the GTN/GTNxi 750, GNS 530/430, and KNS-80. Autopilot coupling has also been added to Black Square's KNS RNAV Navigators in recent updates, allowing users to fly more complex procedures with the help of the aircraft's autopilot.

The aircraft's manual has also doubled in length, with all new screenshots, and detailed descriptions of all the new systems and features. The manual also includes performance tables for all variations of the Caravan Professional, and a table of inputs and outputs for home cockpit builders. The aircraft's code itself has also been updated throughout to provide substantially improved hardware interaction.

Next, I would like to introduce my next general aviation project.

Black Square's Commander 114 will deliver the same high standard of quality represented in my other standalone aircraft, including the physics-driven reciprocating engine simulation that debuted with the Piston Duke, along with the tablet interface and system visualizers.

The Commander's avionics suite will be a slight departure from previous Black Square aircraft, with new vintage avionics options to reflect the first production run of the 114. The model featured here also includes some performance modifications, such as a three-bladed propeller, and an improved cabin air ventilation inlet on the tail.

The Commander is well known for its luxuriously wide cabin, but also its sturdy trailing link landing gear, which makes it an excellent back country retractable-gear aircraft for those new tessellated surfaces in MSFS 2024.

Before Black Square's Commander 114 is released to the public, we will also see the Bonanza Professional and Baron Professional arrive to the market with many of the same features as the 114, such as the reciprocating engine simulation, and tablet interface.
